Researchers have developed a new artificial intelligence model capable of predicting the progression from mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to Alzheimer’s disease with high accuracy. The model analyzes a combination of brain MRI scans, genetic data, and clinical test results to identify patterns that precede a clinical diagnosis. In validation studies, the AI system demonstrated a predictive accuracy of over 85%, significantly outperforming traditional diagnostic methods that rely on single data sources. The developers suggest this tool could allow for earlier and more targeted interventions, potentially slowing disease progression. The research team emphasizes that the model is intended to assist clinicians, not replace them, by providing a data-driven risk assessment. Further large-scale trials are needed before clinical implementation. Read the full article at https://sciencedaily.com/releases/2023/10/231012134522.htm.
