Researchers have developed a new artificial intelligence model capable of analyzing speech patterns to predict the progression from mild cognitive impairment to Alzheimer’s disease. The model, trained on hundreds of hours of recorded interviews, identifies subtle linguistic changes, such as increased hesitation, grammatical errors, and vocabulary simplification, which often precede clinical diagnosis. In a recent study, the AI demonstrated a high degree of accuracy in forecasting which patients would develop Alzheimer’s within a six-year period. This non-invasive, low-cost tool could enable earlier interventions and more personalized treatment plans. The research team emphasizes that the model is intended to assist clinicians, not replace them, and further validation in larger, more diverse populations is needed.
