A new study from MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) demonstrates that large language models (LLMs) can significantly accelerate the process of robot design. Researchers developed a system where an LLM acts as a ‘brainstorming partner,’ generating creative concepts for robot structures based on simple text prompts. These AI-generated blueprints are then refined and tested through automated simulations. In experiments, the system designed functional robots for tasks like navigating uneven terrain much faster than traditional methods.
